If the media reports are to be believed coming from New Delhi, more envoys from the foreign are going to visit Jammu and Kashmir in coming weeks. Such developments have come close to the heels of first such effort by the central government when they allowed 20-25 diplomats to visit Kashmir during the month of January 2020.
In this effort, US ambassador to New Delhi also part of the delegation and he met lot of people during his two days stay in Kashmir valley. They were briefed by top officers of administration and also by army about their efforts to normalize the situation on ground in Kashmir.
The local administration is planning the next visit of diplomats to Kashmir valley and all the arrangements are being looked after by the senior officials. Army and security forces are also going to brief them about the ground situation besides the local administration.
Media reports from New Delhi have suggested that this fresh visit if envoys to Kashmir would be handled in the same manner as was done during the month of January. They would be briefed by army officials besides having meetings with select group of civil society and also the politicians.
Currently the three former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir including Farooq Abdullah, Omer Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have been booked under PSA. This move of the central government has come at a time when the media reports were suggesting that the government will release all the political prisoners in a phased manner.
Earlier when the European Union Envoys refused to visit Kashmir without meeting the jailed leaders of mainstream political parties, it is to be seen whether they will agree this time to visit Kashmir without meeting the three former chief ministers.
