While WHO has given the mantra for fighting COVID-19 as only to go for tests, tests and tests, but JK administration has a new mantra to fight it, that is lockdown, lockdown and lockdown. They have declared red zones, have sealed exit and entry points without going for testing and it has resulted in some tragic deaths.
Latest death of a pregnant women is an indication of an alarming situation emerging from the red zones of Kashmir valley. A young pregnant women lost her life with her twin babies in her womb as the doctors were hesitant to touch her as most of the doctors and medical staff did not have the PPE’s and other equipment.
While authorities ordered probe into her death due to the alleged negligence of doctors, her test from CD hospital of Dalgate came positive. It raised concerns from the hospital staff and few doctors, nurses and paramedical staff were immediately shifted for quarantine.
This incident is an eye opener how JK administration is handling spread of COVID-19 cases and how vulnerable are doctors and paramedics to come in contact with COVID patients without required protective gears.
On Saturday, the authorities had ordered a probe into the death of the woman and her twin babies after doctors allegedly delayed her treatment at a maternity hospital in southern Kashmir’s district over apprehensions that she might be a coronavirus patient.
The woman who hailed from Kharpora village of Anantnag, which has been declared as coronavirus “red zone” by the administration, was admitted to Child and Maternity Hospital Anantnag on April 25 morning. Family members alleged that since she hailed from a red zone area, doctors were hesitant to treat her, which eventually led to her and the twins’ death.
