Despite repeated clampdowns and lockdowns in Jammu and Kashmir, administration has started fresh efforts for the overall development and for completing many pending projects. Soon after the government eased lockdown in Kashmir valley many half way infrastructure projects were allowed to start work and labor force was also made available for them.
Now in Srinagar city and many other parts of Kashmir valley due to the fresh surge of Covid-19 cases, the government has re-imposed lockdown and has declared as 80 places as containment places in Srinagar. Due to this fresh re-imposition of lockdown to flatten the curve of Covid pandemic, officials have tried to keep the pace of developmental works despite these restrictions.
Though the developmental works are slowly picking up pace, many projects most of them fresh have not been started yet as most of the migrant laborers have gone back to their respective states since August last year.
There is a dearth of labor force and other technical forces in Kashmir valley to give much needed speed and pace to these developmental projects. Though work on most of the incomplete projects has been started, due to the frequent disruption here, migrant laborers are not available. In the normal circumstances thousands of migrant laborers used to come to Kashmir valley during the working season of summers, but Covid lockdown has closed all such possibilities.
Now the re-impositions of restrictions and announcement of new containment zones in the Srinagar city has its impact on the speed of development and on the overall completion infrastructure projects.
