There have been a lot of changes in the functioning of administration in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir which is now two Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Apart from growing pandemic Ladakh region is facing shortage of officers after it became a separate Union Territory without any legislature to be directly controlled by the Centre.
The administration in Ladakh is not only fighting coronavirus but it has now many other problems on the ground after the faceoff between Indian and Chinese army at LAC in the region.
Recently The Jammu and Kashmir Government placed the services of over 100 officials of different departments at the disposal of the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh on deputation basis for a period of two years with immediate effect.
According to an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), nine officials of the GAD department, including a KAS officer, 23 officials of the Finance Department, comprising directors and joint directors of Planning, Development and Monitoring Department and 24 officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department had been sent on deputation to Ladakh.
The order said the deputation of the officials would be for a period of two years or till the final allocation was made in terms of Section 89(2) of the J&K Reorganization Act, 2019.
Ladakh is badly in need of more officers and officials to run this new Union Territory in a hassle free manner. It is a good beginning as the people in this hilly region are in need of a responsive administration.
