There is a lot of optimism among the border residents of Jammu and Kashmir after India and Pakistan released a joint statement recently with both sides agreeing to observe the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) starting from February 25.

Post August 5, 2019, there have been hundreds of ceasefire violations on the line of actual control and also along the International border in Jammu and Kashmir.

Not only has it impacted the economic conditions of thousands of families living near the borders but it has resulted in a lot of unfortunate deaths and also injuries to these residents which include women and children.

After the lot of back channel talks according to the news reports coming out from Islamabad and New Delhi, both the countries have decided to move on the path of dialogue and reconciliation.

The signs of these overtures were visible when the Pakistani Army Chief recently said that they are for friendly relations with all the neighbors on all the sides clearly talking about India.

After his statement, New Delhi made a cautious response and said that they were always for neighborly relations with Pakistan and wanted them to create an atmosphere free of terror for such relationships to grow.
