Cold wave is back, minus temperatures recorded at Gulmarg and Pahalgam

While tourism is picking up, the winter season is showing its presence in this month of October as Kashmir witnessed not only untimely snow but also now minus temperatures during the night in many health resorts.

The cold conditions remained during the night while on Wednesday, there was bright sunshine but in the shades, the cold wave could be felt by the common people.

According to the MeT department officials, minus temperatures were recorded in the health resorts of Pahalgam and Gulmarg during the previous night.

According to GNS in its report about the cold conditions it has said in its news report on Wednesday as follows.

With overnight fresh rainfall, cold conditions continued across Kashmir Valley with famous resorts of Pahalgam and Gulmarg recording sub-zero temperatures last night, officials said on Wednesday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 4.2°C against 7.4°C on previous night. The summer capital had “traces” of rainfall last night, the official said.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 6.2°C against previous night’s 6.2°C, the official said.

Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 1.1°C against minus 1.7°C on the previous night, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 2.4°C against 4.8°C on the previous night, the official said. it had rainfall of 1.4mm last night, the official said.

Kupwara town of north Kashmir recorded a low 2.4°C against 2.8°C on the previous night, the official said.

Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 1.4°C against previous night’s minus 1.2°C, the official said. it had 0.4mm of rainfall overnight, the official added.

The temperatures have fallen considerably after record rainfall and snowfall in some plains and upper reaches.

The MeT office has forecast mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir divisions till November 2.
