In every district of Jammu and Kashmir, authorities are trying to enhance the scope of One District-One Product (ODOP) initiative.
In this direction The Deputy Commissioner (DC) chaired a meeting to assess the progress and strategize the enhancement of the One District-One Product (ODOP) initiative in the district.
At the outset, the Assistant Director H&H provided a comprehensive overview of the ongoing efforts to uplift Willow wicker production. This included initiatives such as branding, market promotion, artisan skill enhancement and expansion of the cultivable area dedicated to willow cultivation.
Underlining the importance of the ODOP initiative, the DC reiterated the district administration’s commitment to ensuring the holistic socio-economic development of all individuals involved in Willow wicker work.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of a Common Facility Centre in the district under the Micro and Small Enterprises-Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), a central sponsored scheme aimed at meeting the demands of local industries.
He directed concerned departments to provide details of services and schemes available to support Willow wicker artisans.
Additionally, plans for cultivable area expansion were discussed, with 100 kanals of land already identified to address production challenges.
