Dialogue Best Alternate for Resolution of K-Dispute: APHC

Srinagar, July 01 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz on Wednesday reiterated that dialogue is the best alternative method for resolution of Kashmir dispute and said the amalgam will continue to pursue persistently for peaceful resolution of the conflict. It also expressed concern over the issuance of domicile certificates to outsiders and urged government to stop such exercises aimed at reversal of demographic character in the region.
According to statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), APHC executive members including Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Masroor Abbas Ansari and Moulana Abbas Ansari held a meeting at the residence of Moulvi Abbas Ansari on Wednesday and reiterated its belief that dialogue is the best alternative method for resolution of Kashmir dispute.
The participants in the meeting reiterated APHC‘s basic stand that the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir has to be resolved peacefully as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of J&K among the three stakeholders India, Pakistan and People of J&K.
“Dialogue among the three stakeholders is the best alternative method to resolve the issue that APHC has consistently advocated and even participated in. While Resolution of the Kashmir issue is the best guarantee of real peace and subsequent prosperity in the subcontinent”, meeting reiterated.
Participants said that they will continue to pursue persistently for peaceful resolution of Kashmir conflict.
Terming the decisions taken on August 5, 2019 “unacceptable” to the people of J&K, members in the meeting said that since 1931 when the people of J&K stood up for the realization of their aspirations, till date those aspirations have been repeatedly compromised. Since 1947 there have also been attempts to change the demographic character of J&K and in August 2019 a final nail in the coffin was hammered in this regard. They added people across J&K have rejected the move of abrogation of Article 370 and 35(A) which was stripped unilaterally while imposing strict curbs and restrictions over people’s movement.
“The government should stop issuing domicile certificates to outsiders with the view to change the demographic character of J&K, which is causing great concern among people and could have serious consequences for the region”, statement reads.
APHC members advised people to be very vigilant at this time and not sell their land or any property to outsiders at any cost.
It also condemned the killing of a civilian at Sopore during a shootout and added the images of his 3 years old child emerged from the gunfight site were heart wrenching. APHC also called for an immediate end to these killings. (KNS)
