Twelve more people who had tested positive for COVID19 were reported to have lost life on Tuesday, the death toll in J&K reaching 571.
Three Kupwara residents died of COVID19 in the past 24 hours prior to Tuesday evening. These were a 65 year old male from Langate area who was admitted at Chest Diseases Hospital on 12 August. A doctor at the hospital said the patient had bilateral pneumonia. A 70 year old from Handwara and another 70 year old from Trehgam also died at SKIMS Soura and SMHS Hospital respectively. Both had been diagnosed with COVID19 pneumonia.
Four Budgam residents also lost life due to this virus that has claimed over 530 lives in Kashmir. These included a 53 year old woman from Ompora Budgam admitted at SKIMS Soura with kidney failure, a 52 year old woman from Mukhama admitted at the same hospital with heart ailment and a 90 year old woman from Budibagh Choon admitted at SMHS Hospital. A 65 year old from Malpora Chadoora also lost battle with the virus at SMHS Hospital, a week after he was admitted.
A 60 year old resident of Pantha Chowk Srinagar died at Chest Diseases Hospital late Monday night, a doctor said. She was hypertensive and had pneumonia caused by the COVID19 in both lungs.
Four people who had died at GMC Anantnag in the past two days were also included in Government’s COVID19 tally today, an official from the district said. He said the deceased were a 50 year old male from Shangus Anantnag admitted with pneumonia, a 55 year old woman from Aakhran Kulgam admitted with pneumonia and sepsis, a 65 year from Ashmuqam Anantnag admitted with a cardiac disease and a 65 year old from Gopalpora Anantnag admitted with pneumonia.
The death toll due to COVID19 in J&K has reached 571. The information bulletin issued by the Government put the death toll at 561. An official said the bulletin did not include deaths that took place later in the day as it was compiled earlier.
