Solid waste management

Solid waste management
The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and other town municipalities in Kashmir face a significant challenge in managing solid waste after Eid-ul-Azha. The massive influx of animal waste and other organic materials poses a substantial threat to the region’s environmental and public health.
Effective waste management requires a well-planned strategy, adequate resources, and community participation. The SMC and other municipalities must work proactively to ensure timely waste collection, disposal, and recycling. This includes deploying sufficient staff, vehicles, and equipment to handle the increased waste volume.
Citizen cooperation is also crucial in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. Residents must take responsibility for proper waste disposal and segregation. By working together, the SMC and the community can mitigate the environmental impact of Eid celebrations and keep Kashmir’s towns clean and beautiful.
The SMC’s efforts to manage waste effectively will not only enhance public health but also contribute to the region’s environmental sustainability. It’s a collective responsibility that requires immediate attention and action. With proper planning and execution, Kashmir can overcome the challenges of post-Eid waste management and emerge cleaner and greener.
