Several crucial government websites and portals in Kashmir have been offline for two months, severely impacting social welfare schemes and causing significant difficulties for beneficiaries. The Golden Card Scheme, which provides medical treatment to patients with chronic illnesses, and the Marriage Assistance Scheme, which offers financial assistance to eligible girls, are among the affected programs. The Food Supplies Department’s online portal is also non-functional, disrupting essential services and creating hardships for those who rely on these schemes.
The prolonged downtime of these websites has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the government’s online infrastructure and its ability to deliver essential services to citizens. Beneficiaries are facing significant challenges in accessing the services they need, and the situation is exacerbating the difficulties faced by vulnerable populations.
Minister Sakina Itoo has acknowledged the issues and is working to resolve them, but the lack of a clear timeline for restoring the online portals is adding to the uncertainty and frustration. The government needs to find a solution to this problem quickly to ensure that citizens can access the services they are entitled to and that the social welfare schemes can function effectively.
