Policeman hands over bag with Rs 90,000 in cash to owner

Srinagar : Police on Monday said an honest policeman has handed over a bag containing Rs 90,000 cash to its owner in Srinagar.

A police spokesperson in a statement said: “Today during naka checking at Qamerwari SPO Umar Mushtaq No.276/SPO found a bag containing Rs 90,000 (Ninety thousand rupees). Subsequently, he informed his duty officer who in turn conveyed it to the Incharge Police Post Qamerwari.”

Meanwhile, a person namely Abdul Aziz Malla son of Haji Abdul Gaffar Malla resident of New Colony Palpora came to Police post-Qamerwari for reporting the loss of a bag containing cash, said police spokesperson.

“After proper verification, the amount was handed over to him. It is apt to mention here that the person has recently retired from Department of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and this was his pension amount. The said person expressed his gratitude to the policeman for the act of honesty,” said police spokesman in a statement.
