Protests, anger on civilian killings shifts from PDP to Rajbawan

111 civilian killings in the past 18 Months by government forces shows that there is no let up in population versus forces in Kashmir valley. Army and security forces have also left hundreds of unexploded shells in the fields of south kashmir during their anti militancy operations. On Wednesday when kids were playing in shopian with one of such explosives it resulted in a massive tragedy. The shell left one minor killed and 4 others injured. The killing of a civilian Wasim Khalid in trihgham village of Kupwara on Wednesday evening has shown that governor N.N Vohra has failed to curb the incidents of civilians deaths kashmir valley.
The central government and state BJP pulled the rug beneath the feet of Mehbooba Mufti blaming her of not being able to improve law and order situation on ground. She was forced to resign and the reasons put forth by BJP president amit Shah were killing of army man Aurangzeb, killing of Shujaat Bukhari and spike in violent incidents.
Recently in Kulgham a minor girl and two other civilians were killed by army, followed by spike in violent incidents like kidnapping and killing of a cop in shopian and stabbing to death of a woman at Hajin. The protests anger and violence have increased manifold in Kashmir valley since governor N.N Vohra started governing J&K state from Rajbawan. All the protests are now directed against the central government, government forces and Rajbawan. There is a silent shift of the anger which was previously directed against Mehbooba and PDP to government forces and New Delhi. Kashmir is sliding back to violence and protests with no signs of normalcy on ground. The feel good factors like tourism boom is over. Recently tourism players of Kashmir blamed governor’s administration and SASB of not allowing Amarnath yatiris to go for site seeing or any purchases from locals in Sonmarg and Pahalgham. In absence of any solid steps to restore normalcy and no visible signs of stopping government forces from killing civilians, the people of Kashmir are left to stew in their own soup.
