PDP bomb shell

Former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has blamed a section in Central agencies of trying to break her party by defections and claimed that some of her lawmakers have told her that they have received threats that they will face NIA raids if they will not defect from the party.

She has been told by her several MLAs that they were being pressurized to leave the party. She said that she does not believe that New Delhi was doing it as a matter of policy, but some elements in the Central agencies were trying to break PDP and create a new group to form a new government with BJP. Mehbooba according to this news report said that NIA element was becoming more visible in Kashmir mainstream politics and claimed that it will erode any faith left in the democracy in Kashmir Valley. Mehbooba has said that people have braved bullets and threats by militants to their lives and voted for mainstream parties and if a perception is created that New Delhi is out to rob their choice it will create a dangerous situation.

PDP has blamed some intelligence officials from New Delhi were trying to coerce some MLAs to leave PDP and claimed that in some cases, they have even told them that they will book them for having links with separatists. Mehbooba Mufti has also made an oblique reference about framing of some PDP leaders. Mehbooba has been quoted by the news agencies saying that in Kashmir separatist and mainstream political leaders along with militant organizations have often co-exited and the threats of NIA clearly show that they want to create a situation of chaos.

Mehbooba Mufti has issued threats to New Delhi in recent past also saying that if they will try to break her party it will result in birth of more Salah-ud-Din’s and Yaseen Malik’s in Kashmir Valley.
