Kulgam, Anantnaq shuts to mourn militant killings

Srinagar : Shutdown is being observed in parts of Kulgam district and Anantnag town in south Kashmir against the killings of two militants in a gunfight with the government forces yesterday.

Reports said that shutdown is being observed in Qaimoh and Khudwani area of Kulgam district and Anantnag town. They said that shops and other commercial establishments are closed in these areas while public transport is off the roads.

Two militants – Adil Ahmad Bhat of Sozan area of Doda district and Bilal Ahmad Dar alias Bilal Yamin Dar of Sofi Mohala Khudwani area of Kulgam district – were killed in a gunfight that broke out early Wednesday in Mehmaan mohalla of Anantnag town.

While Bhat was active in the militant ranks since early this year, Dar had joined LeT in 2017 and was a close associate of top commanders Majid Zargar and Junaid Matoo.
