Punjab driver held with poppy in Budgam

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a driver of a vehicle with four kilograms of poppy straw in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Balvinder Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab was arrested after  approximately 4 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from his truck during routine checking  of vehicles, a police spokesman said.

An official said a truck (bearing registration No. JK02T 8625) was intercepted during routine checking at Alipora in Chadoora sub-division.

“A case FIR No 76/2018 under section 08/15 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Chadoora and  investigation taken up,” the spokesman added.
