Kupwara encounter : Police identifies duo as locals

Srinagar : Two militants killed in a Kupwara encounter with the government forces in Shumriyal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have been identified, an official said.

He identified the slain as Bilal Shah from Shart Muqam and Zahoor from Kalaroos Kupwara.

“Militants travelling in a vehicle were ambushed by Army 41 RR and SOG Kupwara at Shumriyal, diver of the vehicle escaped unhurt, while two militants were killed,” he added.

“The snatched weapon INSAS from Police at Kandhar area of Maidanpora Lolab  few days before has also been recovered from them,” the official said.
