Militant arrested in south Kashmir’s Awantipora: Police

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant and recovered arms from his possession in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Police identified the arrested militant as Abdul Majid Shah, son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah, a resident of Iqbal Colony Pattan Baramulla.

“He was travelling in a car bearing registration number DL9CM0213 and was on way to meet other militants active in the area,” police said adding “on his personal search Arms & ammunition and other incriminating material was recovered.”

During questioning, police said he revealed that “he is in touch with the other militants of the area who are planning militant strikes.”

A case FIR No 133/2018 under section 7/25 Arms act has been registered in Police Station Awantipora.
