Hajin gunfight ends, militants escape

Bandipora: Militants have managed to give a slip to the government forces after a brief gun-battle in Hajin town of this north Kashmir district.

A group of militants believed to be four to five in numbers fled from government forces dragnet in Mir Mohalla locality of Hajin after engaging them in a brief gunfight, official sources told Muslim kashmir .

Earlier CASO was launched in the village following a tip-off about the presence of militants. He said the militants opened fire on the forces, triggering a brief gunfight.

According to reports, the youth took to streets soon after forces launched a search operation. Youth pelted stones on government forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells triggering clashes.

Following clashes in the area the militants have escaped, an official said.
