Srinagar : Pensioners Welfare Association (PWA) and senior citizens of the Kashmir Valley on Saturday held a protest rally in Srinagar to protest against the petitions challenging Article 35-A of the constitution.
Reports said that scores of senior citizens and pensioners led by Sampat Prakash assembled at Pratap Park in Srinagar and held a protest to extend support to Article 35-A, which grants special privileges to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
The protesters were carrying placards with messages like ‘Save Article-35A’ and ‘Save disputed status of Kashmir’.
Separatists have called for a two-day shutdown from August 30 to protest the “assault” on Article 35-A of the constitution.
Supreme Court is likely to hear a bunch of petitions challenging the legislation on August 31.
