Sopore shuts against Hurriyat activist’s killing

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in north Kashmir’s Sopore area on Friday against the killing of a Hurriyat Conference (G) activist in the town.

The shutdown call was given by the joint resistance leadership (JRL) comprising Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik against Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) member Hakim-ul-Rahman’s killing who was killed by unidentified gunmen in Bomai area of Sopore on Sep 8.

Reports said that all the educational institutions across Sopore division were closed by the authorities as “a precautionary measure”.

Meanwhile, latest reports suggest that clashes between the government forces and people were also reported from Armpora Sopore.
