Govt announces 7th pay commission benefits for SSA teachers

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday agreed to implement 7th pay commission recommendations for teachers recruited under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme in the education department.

The salary from the month of September will be released as per 7th pay commission recommendations, Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ganai told the teachers observing a sit-in at Press Enclave in Srinagar from past over twenty days.

As the decision came, the SSA teachers called off their strike.

Since September 4 the Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers were on an indefinite hunger strike in Srinagar to press in their demands.

Earlier, the government had constituted a Committee headed by Principal Secretary Finance to look into the grievances of teachers, in particular the SSA Teachers.
