Journalist Injured After Hit By Pellets In Shopian During Clashes

SRINAGAR — A Journalist was injured after hit by pellets during clashes between protesters and the government forces in Memander area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.

Official sources said that a journalist working as a videographer with Zee news identified as Aijaz Ahmad Dar was hit by pellets during clashes that erupted soon after forces launched cordon and search operation in the village.

The injured journalist was shifted to district hospital Shopian for treatment, he said.

“We put our hands up and told them that we are from the press and one of my colleague was wearing press jacket. But the forces directly target both of us,” said Ajaz.

The CASO was launched in the area soon after militants attack army patrol toady afternoon, said an official.

“The operation was going on when the reports last came in,” he said.
