Woman injured as militant’s killing triggers violent protests in Pampore

Pulwama: A woman has been injured during the clashes between government forces and protesters in Pampore town of this south Kashmir district, even as the Srinagar-Jammu highway continues to remain blocked.

An eye witness said that people, mostly youth, took to streets and pelted the forces with stones as the news of a local militant, Mohd Amin Mir of Drangbal Pampore.

Mir and his associate, Mukhtar Ahmad Khan son of Brass Arizal, were killed in a gunfight in Zugoo area of Arizal today morning.

During the clashes, a woman was injured after being hit by the stone on her head. She was shifted to a nearest hospital for treatment.

The protesters also blocked Srinagar-Jammu highway near Namblabal and the entire area is observing the shutdown.
