Family appeals for donations to help young woman survive multi-organ failure

Family appeals for donations to help young woman survive multi-organ failureReduced to penury after spending a fortune on her treatment, a family in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday appealed for donations to fund the treatment of their daughter suffering from multi-organ failure since 2014.

Hailing from Sariwarpora area of Pattan, Naseema Dar (28) developed nephrotic syndrome in May 2014 which resulted in a kidney failure. She was admitted to AIIMS for specialized treatment on March 5, 2015, bearing UHID NO.100841529 for the period of five months.

During this period, the family said, she suffered left lung pleural effusion and was later operated upon in July 2015.
Surviving on regular dialysis, on December 20, 2015, she was again admitted for evaluation of lung. In the meantime, she developed liver ailment as well.

For about four months, she had to undergo active treatment for her liver before her 64-year-old father could donate his left kidney to save his ailing daughter.

On May 12, 2017, Naseema was operated for the kidney transplant donated by her father. For all these years, the family ran from pillar to post to manage the expenses for their daughter’s treatment. A family member said the treatment cost the family a mammoth amount of Rs one crore.

While the family grappled with funding treatment of Naseema and an ailing father, the number of patients rose to three after former’s mother developed health complications.

The only treatment cost of Naseema, which doctors have prescribed for next one more year is Rs 50,000 per month, leaving aside the cost of medicines which keep her parents alive. “All those samaritans who want to contribute to save her precious life and lend a helping hand to ease out the sufferings of the traumatic family can credit the below-mentioned account,” said a family member.
