CUK students block Srinagar-bypass road over detention of 2 students

Srinagar : Hundreds of students of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Saturday staged a protest march to demand release of their peers detained by the government forces.

An eye witness said that the students boycotted their classes and staged a protest on the campuses before taking out a protest march towards Nowgam bypass.

Reports said that two students identified as Suhail Ahmed from Shopian and Mohammad Ismail from Baramulla were earlier detained by the government forces by their rented accommodation near the university. However, an officer from the concerned police station refused to give any details about the arrest of the duo.

In response to their detention, scores of the students today morning took out the protest demonstration and demanded the immediate release of the duo.

Pertinently, as the students are on the road, the Nowgam Bypass road, which is closed to the university, could affect the overall traffic movement of the Srinagar city. Meanwhile, the board exam of the class tenth is also going on, the disruption of the traffic and noise pollution can somehow effect their today’s examination.
