Top Lashkar commander Azad Malik among six militants killed in Bijbehara gunfight

Srinagar :Top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Azad Ahmad Malik alias Dada was among the six militants who were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Shalgund village of Dashnipora in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Friday.

The other five militants who died in the gunfight that raged in the village since early hours were identified as Basit Ahmad Mir of Pushwara Islamabad affiliated with LeT, Atif Nazar of Waghama, Firdous Ahmad of Pulwama, Unais Shafi Bhat of Takiya Maqsood Shah Bijbehara and Shahid Malik from Awantipora affiliated with Hizb.

He said the four among six slain were affiliated with Hizb ul-Mujahideen militant group.

According to police Azad Malik was involved in the killing of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari.
