Militant killings trigger clashes in Sopore in north Kashmir

Srinagar : Intense clashes erupted in Sopore township of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday following the killing of two militants in a gunfight.

Local sources said that soon after the gunfight ended youth took to streets and pelted government forces with stones.

The forces, they said, responded by firing tear gas shells, triggering further clashes.

Two militants identified as Owais Bhat a resident of Brath Gund and Tahir Ahmad Dar a resident of Warpora village of Sopore were killed in an overnight gunfight in Brath Gund area of Sopore.
