Highway closed over 2000 vehicles stranded

According to traffic officials in Srinagar on Friday highway will remain closed due to landslides triggered by incessant rains and snow. While talking to this reporter on the condition of the road BRO officer said that as weather will improve today they will start a massive cleaning operation to clear the debris at various locations in Ramban sector. He said that they have kept ready men and machinery to clear the highway and expressed hope that by the end of today it would be through for traffic.
When asked about the stranded vehicles he said that hundreds of vehicles especially trucks laden with essential supplies were at different locations on highway and would like to see them crossing the Jawahar tunnel as soon as possible.
According to news agencies 1700 vehicles were stranded on Srinagar Jammu highway as it reamined closed for the third running day today.
