Bandipora shuts after reports of killing of local militant in Sopore gunfight

Srinagar: Northern Kashmir’s Bandipora township is observing a shutdown against the purported killing of a local militant in Sopore gunfight on Friday.

“The shutdown is being observed over the rumours of the death of a local militant in Sopore encounter,” locals said.

They said that the militant is a resident of Qazipora village in the district who according to the family had gone missing from home a month ago.

They said that minor stone pelting incidents were also reported from different parts of the district.
