Srinagar: Mutahida Ulema Council (MUC) on Wednesday withdrew the shutdown call issued for March 16 in view of the request made by the Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, who heads the Mutahida Ulema Council (MUC), said that the MUC has withdrawn Saturday’s shutdown call.
“In view of the request made by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to revoke the shutdown called on Saturday, we have decided to withdraw the shutdown call. There will be no shutdown on Saturday,” said Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam.
Earlier today, Mirwaiz had requested the MUC to withdraw the shutdown call for Saturday.
On Tuesday, the MUC had appealed people to observe a complete shutdown on 16th March (Saturday) in view of summoning of Mirwaiz to New Delhi by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
