Srinagar: A prominent religious cleric Moulvi Mohammad Amin and 10 other youth have been arrested during nocturnal raids from Pulwama villages on Tuesday.
An official said a joint team of forces including Jammu and Kashmir police raided the house of Moulvi Amin at Washbugh in Pulwama and arrested him. Moulvi Amin is Khateeb (Imam) of Khankhahi Mir Sahib, Pulwama.
Meanwhile at least 10 youth have been detained by government forces from Drabgam village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district during nocturnal raids.
Reports said that government forces raided the village and laid a cordon around a cluster of houses on Tuesday.
Some of the arrested youth have been identified as Ashraf Khan, Irfan Javid, Muzamil Ahmed, Khursheed Ahmad, Imran Ahmed and Ishfaq Ahmad.
A police official said that the youth were detained on charges of stone pelting.
Over 250 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), Jamait-ul-Ahalhadees (JeA), both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and other separatist organizations were taken into custody after 44 CRPF personnel were martyred in a fidayeen attack by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) at Awantipora in Pulwama on February 14.
