BJP has sought early assembly polls in JK: Ram Madhav

Srinagar : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Ram Madhav on Wednesday said that his party (BJP has told Election Commission of India (ECI) to hold the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest.

Ram Madhav, who is also the party’s point-man for Jammu and Kashmir affairs, lashed out at the two main regional parties of the state–National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)- saying that both the parties are happy contesting the Lok Sabha elections while BJP wants to have the assembly election in the state.

“Both NC and PDP are happy in contesting the general elections while we have asked Election Commission to hold assembly elections in the state as early as possible,” Madhav said while addressing a press conference at a hotel here in Srinagar. He said that after the BJP pulled out of the coalition with PDP, the situation in Kashmir has improved.

Ram Madhav said that his party’s stand on Article 370 and 35(A) continues to remain the same. He also hit out at the National Conference-Congress alliance and referred it (seat-sharing) as a “drama”.

“This drama that is going on that they are in alliance in Jammu, but fighting in Kashmir. They are trying various types of exercises against Modi and the BJP, let them do it. We will win two seats in Jammu and one in Ladakh and will try our best in Kashmir so that our candidates go forward,” Ram Madhav said. (KNS)
