Srinagar : Four militants were killed and three army men and a policeman wounded in a gunfight that started on Monday early morning between government forces and militants in Lassipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Reports said a gunfight broke out between the militants and the forces in Lassipora early Monday morning.
Police sources said that four militants were killed in the gunfight whose identity was being ascertained.
They said three soldiers were wounded in the gunfight who were evacuated to a health facility for treatment.
In the initial exchange of fire three army soldiers and one policeman sustained injuries. They have been hospitalised for the treatment of their injuries and are stated to be stable,” said a police spokesman.
He said the bodies of the slain militants have been recovered from the gunfight site.
“Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case,” he said.
Meanwhile, Internet has been suspended in the twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian.
