State Governor Satya Pal Malik is not happy with highway ban nor he was n loop when State Chief Secretary, decided to withdraw security of hundreds of vulnerable persons in J&K State. Satya Pal Malik is trying to reassert himself over the State administration and in a recent high level meeting; he warned local bureaucrats that no government is going to take over indicating that there would be no immediate State assembly elections. Omar Abdullah was reportedly informed by some of the bureaucrats about the meeting and he tweeted that the Governor was not interested in State assembly elections and was either incompetent or busy in implementing BJP agenda in J&K State.
Governor Satya Pal Malik has asked State Chief Secretary to route all files to Raj Bhawan before taking any decision on any sensitive matter regarding Kashmir. Governor was informed by top police officers that they have not recommended withdrawing of security to the vulnerable people and said that State Chief Secretary had taken the decision of his own. Normally Security Review Coordination Committee (SRCC) used to assess threat perception of protectees and used to decide whether to continue the security cover to such persons or not. Now Raj Bhawan has decided that the final decision on this matter would be taken by the State Governor through Chief Secretary.
The latest government order after the intervention of Governor said that SRCC will consult State DGP and place views if any along with recommendations to Governor through Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam for approval.
Governor has also changed the nomenclature of SRCC and now the intelligence chief will not head it, but would be the member of the committee. The latest order of the government will be very crucial for all the security related issues in Kashmir Valley. Police officers were not happy with the decision of State Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam when he withdrew security cover of hundreds of politicians and other vulnerable people in J&K State without any recommendations for the same from either State Intelligence Wing or State Police.
