Gunfight breaks out in Kokernag forests of south Kashmir

Srinagar : An encounter broke out between the government forces and militants in Kachwan area of Kokernag village in Anantnag district on Tuesday.

An official said that following inputs about the presence of militants a joint team of forces comprising army’s 19RR, 164 BN of CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Kachwan area and searches were launched. Reports also suggest that gunfight has begun and firing from both sides has also begun.

Confirming the gunfight, a police officer said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped, reported news agency GNS.
