Srinagar : Hurriyat Conference (g) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani appealed to observe the last Friday of Ramadan as “Palestine and Kashmir Day”.
In a statement Geelani making a fervent appeal to the organization of Islamic countries to ponder on the present critical political scenario at international level and chalk out an effective strategy to address the challenges faced by the Muslim community at internal and external fronts.
Hurriyat (g) chairman said both Palestine and Kashmiri people have suffered too much since their long subjugation.
He said, “both India and Israel are in close relation to suppress the legitimate and popular voice of the people of both regions.”
He urged the world community to shun their silence on the “inhuman atrocities, killings” in both these regions and help resolve both long pending issues recognized by United Nations Organizations.
He appealed the whole Muslim world to pray for the free Kashmir and Palestine on the eve of Friday prayers.
Geelani also condemned the use of force at several places of South Kashmir and the “ruthless killing” of a civilian youth Sajad Ahmad Parray of Buderhama Shopian at the hands of forces.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased youth, Hurriyat (g) chairman expressed his deep grief and heartiest condolences with the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Geelani while lauding the strong commitment and steadfastness displayed by the senior Hurriyat leader Masarat Aalam Bhat all along his detention period.
“Condemned slapping of 38th Public Safety Act against the incarcerated leader, he said that it is a sheer political vengeance and a vile act of trampling the freedom of expression and civil liberty of a renowned political leader, like Masrat Aalam Bhat.”
Hurriyat (g) chairman expressed his full confidence that these “brazen and illegal methods” used to prolong the detention of Masrat Aalam Bhat shall not deter him from the ongoing freedom movement.
