Most of the health care projects in Jammu and Kashmir State have not been monitored by the authorities properly and most of them have missed the deadlines. It is worth mentioning here that Ghulam Nabi Azad as State Chief Minister and also as Union Health Minister, approved lot of projects of hospitals and other healthcare system for J&K State. Despite years have passed, there is very little progress on these projects as the successive government have failed to pace these projects and complete them.
Recently Governor’s administration has taken lot of measures for the completion of these projects and has started monitoring the pace of development in this direction. Recently Advisor to Governor chaired a meeting to discuss the important issues of Health & Medical Education department. He also reviewed the progress on the projects initiated for the overall development of health sector in the state.
Detailed discussions were held on various important issues pertaining to the further improvement of healthcare services and development of health related projects in the state. With regard to the procurement of drugs, equipments and machinery for various government health institutions, MD JKMSCL was asked to brief the meeting about the process of procurement and tentative timeline for providing the equipments to the institutions.
Governor’s administration has asked to expedite the process and ensure that the projected demand of equipments/machinery is handed over to the institutions to make them operationalize at the earliest. Besides, he was also directed ensure procurement and supply of important drugs that are to be provided to the health institutions as per the free drug policy. The Advisor said that the existing process of procurement should be made more simple so that the critical equipments/drugs can be procured without wasting much time but following due procedure.
