Unidentified Militant Killed In Sopore Gunfight Buried At Sheeri

Srinagar : A militant who was killed in an encounter with government forces at Wadoora Payeen area of Sopore area was buried in Sheeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last night.

Reports said that the slain militant whose identity was not revealed yet was buried with the help of local Auqaf committee at Sheeri.

Earlier, Police in a statement said that on a credible input, a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces at Wadoora Payeen in Bomai area of Sopore. During the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In the ensuing encounter, one militant was killed and the body was retrieved from the site of encounter.  The identity and affiliation of the slain is being ascertained.

Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter.
