Man injured after army allegedly opens fire on him

Srinagar : A man-auto rickshaw driver by profession was injured on Saturday morning when army personnel allegedly fired upon him on Friday night in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Reports said that on Friday night around 11: 45 a driver identified as Mohammad Shafi Ganie, a resident of Wahibugh village was signalled by the army personnel at checkpoint near Romeshi rivulet. However, when the driver didn’t stop he was fired upon by the army. In the incident, the driver sustained a bullet wound on his hand.

According to media reports, the driver was returning home in his vehicle from Gulzarpora village along with three other villagers at midnight. As the car reached Romeshi rivulet, it was allegedly fired upon by government forces.

Soon after the incident, Ganie was rushed to Srinagar hospital for the treatment. Agencies
