Another batch of 3,627 pilgrims leave Jammu for Amarnath cave in Kashmir

Srinagar : A batch of 3,627 pilgrims left Jammu on Friday for the Kashmir Valley to perform the Amarnath Yatra.

An official said that 3,627  including women and sadhus, left Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu base camp for Baltal and Nunwan camps under unprecedented security arrangements for amaranth yatra.

He said that 1,411 are going to the Baltal base camp while 2,216 are going to the Pahalgam base camp.

He said that so far, 19 pilgrims have died during the Yatra.

The 45-day long annual Amarnath Yatra which started on July 1 has been going on smoothly. Till date, at least 2,32,860 pilgrims have paid their obeisance at Amarnath cave.

“This is the highest number of pilgrims to visit the Cave shrine during the first forthright in the last four years,” an official said.
