Radio Kashmir Srinagar with the help of I&B Ministry, Union Cultural Ministry in a record short time started FM transmission from Baltal for 16 hours daily for the information of the yatries. Amarnath yatra is going on and there is huge response to this FM channel for the Amarnath yatra on social media.  The transmission is being run from a hut at Baltal Sonamarg by the senior programme officer of Radio Kashmir Srinagar.

The FM from Baltal is getting huge response on social media especially on twitter for conducting this non-stop 16 hour transmission for the Amarnath yatries.  Union Ministry of Culture is sending religious material for the transmission while as he is updating weather updates and other information regarding the yatra and advisories from Shrine Board for their safety and security.

Transmission is first of its kind started from Kashmir Valley and it is a huge connecting point for all those missing yatries who want to contact each other. He said that this transmission is available on DTH channel namely Amarnath Yatra AIR, an initiative by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Culture. This transmitter was set in the shortest span of one month by the Engineers of Radio Kashmir Srinagar.

Talha Jehangir is the sole programme officer looking after this 16 hour daily transmission from Baltal, which is relayed by FM Tral, FM Pahalgam, FM Patnitop, FM Teetwal and FM Gurez. He said that their target is to cover the route of the yatra.  Most of the yatries have been overwhelmed by this special FM channel and it has become a rallying point for them to connect each other while being in Kashmir.
