Union Government has started the process to rehabilitate migrant Kashmiri Pandits back in the Valley and all the decks are being cleared for this purpose. In this direction, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the State administration to accelerate the process so that the projects are completed within the timeline in many districts of Kashmir Valley.

Kashmiri Pandits have recently met Hurriyat leadership and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has announced a panel from his organization to look for the rehabilitation for Kashmiri Pandits back here. All the Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani have always welcomed Kashmiri Pandits back and have said that they should live with their Muslim neighbours like they were living before 1990. Hurriyat leaders and Civil Society of Kashmir have strongly advocated for their comeback, but they are opposing the move of the government to construct separate colonies are clusters for them.

Kashmiri Pandits have been demanding their rehabilitation and many of them are in support of living back in Kashmir Valley with their Muslim neighbours. But the Union Government is of the opinion that Kashmiri Pandits can return only if they are given secure accommodation so that they live without any fear in Kashmir. The Union Government has already promised that Kashmiri Pandits will return back and in this direction the process has been set in motion for their comeback, but within the security zones to be created for their safety and security.
