Heavy downpour paralyses life in Srinagar.

Srinagar: Heavy  rains on Thursday morning, left most of the Srinagar city submerged in water. Water logging was witnessed in Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk, Polo view and TRC Crossing. The shopkeepers in Hari Singh High Street area up to Sarai Bala could not open the shops due to water logging.

Taking to this reporter senior officer of Municipal Corporation said that they have started de-watering all the important business centres of Srinagar city and the process of was going on. Due to water logging there are heavy traffic jams in Srinagar city resulting in difficulties for the students to reach different educational institutions.

There are no immediate reports of impact of the heavy rains in other parts of Kashmir valley especially in South Kashmir. Reports said that heavy rains have been witnessed different parts of Kashmir valley from Thursday morning. It is now routine in Srinagar city that heavy rains stall life in Srinagar city as the drainage system has completely failed. While the authorities are busy in dewatering the main business centres of Srinagar city, there is no proper system in place to save the city from such heavy rains.

It is in place to mention that weather man has already predicted heavy rains in entire J&K State for the coming four days. Srinagar-Jammu is shut due to heavy rains and landslides. Reports said that rains have resulted in havoc in Udhampur district where on Wednesday the minor was killed and girl was injured in a house collapse case due to heavy rain.

More details are awaited about the impact of rains on entire Kashmir valley.
