Srinagar: There is not clarity about the fate of article 35 A as BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav on Wednesday in Srinagar said that whatever would be the decision of Central Government about this article would be for the benefit of the state. He did not say that Central Government will not do away with article 35 A.

His statement has reinforced the fears among the people of Kashmir that Central Government will scrap article 35 A in future. These rumours were killed to some extent by State Governor Satya Pal Malik when he said that people should not pay any head to these rumours and nothing of the sort was going to happen. Ram Madhav also indicated that fear was being created among the people of Kashmir by the local mainstream parties.

BJP is working on a strategy in J&K State with the target of getting majority in coming assembly elections. Ram Madhav said in Srinagar that PDP and NC were trying to keep themselves relevant by raising the bogey of article 35 A.

Keeping the fears alive he said that BJP as a party cannot decide about article 35 A but added that decision would be taken by Prime Minister and the Central government. He assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that whatever decision taken by the Prime Minister would be in the interest of J&K State.

Recently Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has warned Centre not to fiddle with article 35 A and said that it would be setting on fire powder keg. She warned of dire consequences if the Central Government will strike down article 35 A and said that it would be resisted by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
