PDD schemes

Power Development Department and allied wings are trying to review the status of power projects aimed to improve the power supply scenario in the Jammu and Kashmir. In these days of winter, the people of Kashmir valley have been complaining about the power shortage and also about the damaged transformers in many areas which are not being set right by the PDD officials.

With sub zero temperatures in most of the areas in Kashmir valley, these winter days are forcing the people to come and protest against the callous attitude of the authorities to provide them relief during these severe days of winter.

The government has claimed that through the various central schemes they will provide electric supply to every single village in Jammu and Kashmir. Such claims of the government are being contested by the people on ground especially in Kashmir valley. The power scenario is worst in the Kishtwar, Doda and Baderwah areas of Jammu region and many of the villages have been without electric supply with officials looking the other way. Many such stories of official apathy have appeared in the local media and Lt Governor Murmu should provide immediate attention to such complaints so that people get relief in these months of winter.

There is no denying of the fact that the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received lot of money for the better power supply to the common man from the central government but on the ground the impact of such schemes is very little. The recent snowfall has once more exposed the claims of the PDD authorities that everything was honky dory in Jammu and Kashmir. The government should pay attention and listen to the complaints of the people and should take note of the complaints appearing in the local media about the power shortage and damage to the transformers.
