Compensation

Government of Jammu and Kashmir in the recent past has tried to redress the grievances of general public and also fast track all those pending cases like the compensation cases of common people.

Recently a delegation of people met LG Murmu in Jammu and appraised him about a long pending compensation case and rehabilitation plan for all those effected families whose houses and land have come under the expansion of Jammu. After listening to their grievances LG Murmu asked the officials to make the case for administrative approval as soon as possible.

He even ordered that the compensation for the affected families’ case along with rehabilitation plan should be tabled for approval in the next meeting of administrative council. According to media reports the proposed rehabilitation plan for the people affected by expansion of Jammu airport include that each family would be give a plot of land at Jammu outskirts besides cash compensation of Rs 1.62 lakh for each family.

This would be the seed money for the affected families to start the construction of their houses. Government has already identified the land for them and being the government land, there are no financial implications and the allotment would be made as soon as possible.

LG Murmu also directed the finance department to release the funds for providing seed money for the start of construction work and also for the development of basic facilities like roads, power and water at the site of rehabilitation.
