Charging of Transport Fee

Hundreds of private schools in Kashmir valley have started forcing the parents to pay transport fee for all those six months of previous summer when there was complete halt to the activities including academic activities in schools.

Many parents in the recent past have approached media to highlight their plight as the managements of the private schools are forcing them to pay the fee along with the transportation fee for all the months of turmoil. Earlier the government has assured the parents that they will have not to pay any fee for the turmoil period to any private school.

Private schools association has been able to prevail upon the authorities especially those who govern these schools so that they can collect huge amounts from the parents even for the period when the schools were closed.

Parents have appealed the authorities to come to their rescue and prevent the private schools from demanding transport fee for the six months of turmoil in the previous year. Private schools have been hiking the fee at their will and the authorities have always sided with the owners of the private schools allowing them to fleece the parents by creating new funds and forcing them to pay for them.

In such situation when the economy is very low in Kashmir and people are finding it very hard even to survive, such actions by the private schools are only adding to the anger and to the depression of parents. It is the duty of authorities to issue orders and ask private schools not to demand any such transport fee from parents for the six months of turmoil which started the first week of August 2019 with the abrogation of article 370.
