Labour Department organizes Awareness Camp in Kupwara

KUPWARA, MARCH 03: The Labour Department Kupwara today organized one day Awareness Camp for workers, labours working in unorganized sector here at Town Hall.

 Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Lone was  Chief Guest and Assistant Labour Commissioner, Arshad Qadir Bhat was guest of honor on the occasion.

District Nodal Officer JKEDI, Irshad Ahmad Naqash bandi, Inspector PFBCWWB, Arshad Ahmad Shah, Representatives of Employment Department, various trading agencies and workers across the district participated in the camp.

During the camp, the ALC informed the workers about various labour laws including Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act and Workmen Compensation Act. He said that 29000 workers of the district are registered with the department and Rs.4.46 crore has been distributed among 5750 beneficiaries under Education Assistance Scheme during the current fiscal. While Rs 20.50 lakhs has also been disbursed among 10 beneficiaries under Death Assistance scheme and under chronic disease and disability assistance Rs.4.74 lakhs were disbursed among 19 beneficiaries.

On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner asked the labours of the district to avail the benefits of various government sponsored schemes by reregistering themselves in the department.

On the occasion, the ADC distributed PMSYM Pension Cards and cheques among various beneficiaries.
