DDMA, Budgam organizes awareness programme
BUDGAM, MARCH 11: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai today stressed for the fool-proof disaster management preparedness for quick and prompt response to mitigate loss of life and public property during any disaster.
DDC was speaking as a chief guest at a daylong awareness programme on disaster management preparedness organized by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Budgam in collaboration with Civil Defence Budgam, here at Shiekh-ul-Alam Hall.
The programme was attended by ADC Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Dy Commandant, Disaster Response Force Srinagar, DIO, Tajamul Yousuf, DTO, Showkat Ahmad Hakani, Dy.SP Civil Defence, Tehsildars and other concerned.
In order to ensure preparedness at district level, the DDC, who is also Chairman DDMA, emphasized on conducting regular training and awareness programmes across the district besides, regular demonstration of equipment stationed at Disaster Emergency Operation Centre, Budgam.
DDC said that the awareness and training programmes helps in effective preparedness to ensure prompt response to natural and manmade disasters.
He asked the concerned to conduct such awareness programmes at school level, besides conducting disaster management related programmes, mock drills in nook and corner of the district for prompt and swift response to minimize damages.
During the program, various methods and measures to tackle the emergency situations arising due to natural or man-made disasters was demonstrated by experts from Disaster Response Force 1st bn Srinagar and others.
